March 2005

It has been a very exciting month. Last month marked the end of my first year and beginning of my second in full-time ministry and I’m just so excited and amazed at what God has done and how He’s provided. Thank you so much for your prayers, encouragement, and support. I know that none of this is possible without you as my partner in ministry.

One of the endeavors that I really enjoy being involved in is answering students’ emails on everystudent.com. I know I’ve talked about it in the past, but its always exciting to see the fruit.
In January I received an email from a young woman named L, a Muslim seeking to understand the claims of Christ. I replied to her email, answered her questions, and shared the gospel. One month later, Laila replied to my email and shared with me that she really feels that God is leading her to make a decision. She said that she intellectually believes now in Christ and that the Gospel is true. Laila asked many questions, and shared that she wants to know Christ, but that she’s afraid of how her family and neighbors will react.

Pray for L to come to a saving relationship with Christ, that God will give her peace about the decision. Almost immediately after she emailed me in January she was in a serious accident and was released from the hospital in February. God is doing something major in her life!
fruit of acc04The challenge to students at Christmas Conference 2004 was to reach their everywhere. The fruit of that conference is now being seen here in the Southeast. Students on every campus are leading outreaches and seeing results.

At the University of Alabama-Huntsville students did a one month campaign promoting campuswide the website everystudent.com. In tandem with the website, students did evangelistic surveys and brought in 3 Crusade speakers to speak on popular topics from the website, like “Finding God in the Midst of Tragedy” and “Is There a God”. Their campus was the top-ranked campus for visiting the website in the whole of the nation for several weeks and they were even featured in the student newspaper.

Similar outreaches have ben led all over the region. In the Atlanta Metro area alone, 27 students have placed their faith in Christ since January, and 80 nationwide through the Student2 Student campaign. In just a few weeks, Crusade students at my alma mater, the University of Florida, are hosting a campuswide film festival, allowing fellow students to submit short films about spirituality in the hopes of starting conversations.

In Mid-February, Piper Down, a band with the Crusade ministry Keynote came and performed at many of the campuses here in the Atlanta Metro area. The Atlanta Metro team tried hard to get a concert at Southern Poly, the campus I’m hoping to see a movement started at, but it didn’t seem like it was going to work out...until the morning of the concert. Piper Down played in the student cafeteria to a decent sizedcrowd, a variety of songs, some secular, some spiritual. Lead singer, Seth Irby, shared his testimony with the room as well as how to have a relationship with Christ.

As a result of this outreach, we came in contact with many students seeking to have conversations about God and Christ, and many who wanted to get involved in a Bible Study. There is now a growing men’s Bible Study at Southern Poly!

prayer requests
Continue to pray for God to start a movement at Southern Poly.

I’m working on the planners again currently, pray that God’s hand would be on them again, as we try out new ideas to expose students to the gospel.
